Who has a tankless (demand) water heater?

I would like to get a tankless water heater. Does anyone have one? How well do they work? Is there a noticable difference in utilities or performance? Can it be used in most residential homes?
And how much was the install? Did you get any kind of rebates for "green products?"

Yes, I have a tankless water heater.
It works perfectly.
My gas bills are cheaper despite rates going up.
If your home will accommodate a regular hot water heater .. there should be no problem replacing it with a tankless.
My husband installed ours… he has better than average "do it yourself skills".

You first have to know if you have enough electrical service to supply the unit. A small unit, just to run a continuous stream of water would take at least 70 amps. All new home will have a 200 amp. electrical panel. Older home with just a 100 amp. service would be pushed to the limit by the demands of modern appliances. And, do you understand that each sink has to have one or you have no hot water at the sinks without a heating unit
I thought about installing one of these in my home, but I live in an area that gets very cold in winter and the incoming water gets too cold for a single unit to bring the temp up enough. I read that I would need 2 units in a row and that made it too pricy for me.
I hear great things about these heaters in warmer climes though so I think they are a great way to go!
