Valiant Combi Boiler (VCW T3WF Type C) Problem with pilot when under demand?
Hi
I was worrying if someone could help with a problem that seems to have foxed a number of plumbers.
I have a Valiant Combi Boiler (VCW T3WF Type C) which is behaving very oddly. The pilot light stays on but once I turn the hot water demand on, I get hot water for approximately a minute or so before the pilot switches off and I have to re-light the pilot.
I've noticed that the time that hot water is delivered is gradually diminshing (quite irritating when in the shower or mid way during a shave!).
I was wondering whether anyone could shed some light on possible causes.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the pilot flame is lifting off the thermocouple & or flame sensor when the burner fires up. This is a common problem when pilots begin to get dirty. I tried to find a web site showing a schematic for your model but was not able to find one.
However what you need to do is light the pilot & watch it as the burner fires up. It will most likely begin to curl up toward the direction of the main burner flame. The pilot assembly will need to be removed & cleaned out. If it has air inlets on the pilot assembly then the pilot orifice will need to be removed & cleaned with a broch/jewelry reamer.
If the pilot contacts a flame sensor then check for the same outcome. If it contacts the flame sensor while in operation than the sensor is going bad or has been moved out of position or has loose wire which the vibration of the fan can be causing to act up while in operation.
