1. How do you vent a tankless gas water heater. I dont want to go through my ceiling if I dont have to my house is 2 to 3 stories. I would rather run it out of my basement window or wall like a dryer vent.
2. If I bought an electric one how many volts or watts would my panel need to be able to handle?
3. Where is a good place to study the tankless water heater with pictures and so forth of its mechanics?

We have always had a storage water heater but it needs to be replaced and we have heard more about a tankless water heater? Does anyone have one and can comment or know the benefits of tankless vs storage?

Since it takes approx 3-4min for the water to get hot, I would think it will save money on water too.

This is for a 2 bedroom apartment, 1 or 2 occupants at the most. I need to make some more space in the utility room to accomodate a dryer, and thought I'd replace the 40 gallon hot water tank with a tankless unit. It's about 3 feet away from the breaker box. It would supply hot water to the whole unit (kitchen sink, washing machine, bathroom).

What size of a tankless water heater would I need? Obviously, the higher gpm the heater provides, the more expensive it would be. This is a rental property, I don't live there. I guess the major demand would be in the shower/bathroom. I would tell the tenant not to run 2 hot water sources at the same time or else use warm water in them.

I don't need a complete analysis, but I just wanted to know do these type of water heaters really save you a lot of $. People have told me that they really spin the meter fast when they are running. I just want a side by side comparison. Let's just say that with the electric water heater that I have now 28 Gallons that I take a shower everyday for the same amount of time 15 Min & now I take a shower with a Electric Tankless water heater I take the same amount of time 15 min. Will I save money with the tankless heater?

Hot water should be instant at every faucet and the shower will not lose it temperature/pressure when a kitchen faucet is turned on. I plan to use a TANKLESS water heater

I was wondering if I could use my home electric tankless water heater to heat the pool as well as my home? If not could I run one just for the pool?

I just moved into a condo a few months back and was excited to have a bathtub again. The only problem is that the water heater that we have only fills the tub up with an inch or two of hot water so baths are pretty much out of the question. The spot where the current water heater is is rather tiny, it's in the kitchen in the corner under the countertop. I was wondering if a tankless water heater would be a wise investment? My home is entirely electric no gas. I currently have the typical 50 gallon water tank.
The tankless water heater would be for the entire home - It is a 3 bedroom townhome that is 1800 sq. feet.

My reasons to get the tankless water heater are.
1. Tired of having to wait 30+ minutes between showers.
2. My current water tank takes up half of the storage closet and its in the front of the closet.
3. In the future It would help sell my townhome over another in the neighborhood as all the townhomes have a very similar floorplan and similar look.

If I turn on the hot water in my tankless water heater, it only puts out hot water. That's good because that's what it's supposed to do. However when I turn on the cold water faucet, the hot water goes off and I only get cold water. I can't understand how turning on the cold water can affect the hot water my tankless hot water heater (gas) is producing. Any info would be great!

I just moved into the house about 3 months ago and for my first month living here I bought a tankless water heater and replaced my regular gas heater because the tankless takes up less space. I have it mounted on the outside. I paid a plumber to install it. It is a rheem water heater. For the past 3 months my bills have ranged from 300-400 in just gas alone. I had the gas company come out and I dont have a leak and the meter isnt running constantly. It only runs when I use the gas in the house. I dont have a kitchen yet installed so I don't use a stove. I havent turned on my ac/heat for the past 2 months so the only hting that could be using the gas is when I take a shower which is a 5 min shower daily. It's just me in the house. So why is my bill so high?? I am so concerned b/c I paid for the water heater got it installed and now it is costing me a lot of money. I checked to see what the previous owner used to pay in gas bills and it was way less than what I am paying and she used the regular hot water tank (not tankless). I threw out the old tank which uses a lot less BTU's than the tankless. I think the tankless uses 180k BTU's and I had a 40 gallon tank. I don't know what to do. And my plumber also checked for gas leaks and I don't have any.

I need a new water heater, I don't feel like giving myself a headache to save bucks. What is a good deal for a hot water heater. I will probably install myself to save 0 unless I get some help. What is the payoff on a tankless water heater, i.e., the difference in price versus the savings on a yearly basis (or a similar ratio). I'd like somthing durable; it seems like I'm always replacing water heaters every time I move.

I'm considering replacing my electric water heater with a Bosch electric tankless (60 degree rise at 3 gal. per minute, incoming water at 45 degree's). ---- I have the necessary electric supply with two -200 amp breaker panels with empty breaker positions in each ( need120 amps for heater).---- I have heard that the temperature can fluctuate as much as 8 to 10 degrees, which is most notable during a shower. I inherited this house when my Father passed. When I started poking around I noticed I could not find the water heater. Anywhere! Now, there is a large unit of some kind in the attic. It looks to be fairly new. It's not the central units, they are both outside. While watching a home remodeling show on TV I noticed this unit being installed, a tankless water heater. It looks almost exactly like what's in my attic. I didn't go as far as climbing around in the attic to see if it had any labels on it, the attic is very small and it's pretty hard to get to. But since I seem to have no blessed water heater, is it a good bet I have a tankless in my attic?

I'm from Canada EH! And up here we commonly get sub-zero weather in the winter - it can sometimes gets as cold as -30 oF. I heard stories that a tankless water heater was ok in the summer, but in the winter when the temp is really cold, the hot water is that much colder - i.e. warm instead of piping hot - anyone with experience on this?
