Problem with water pressure/hot on demand heater?
Hey guys
We have one of those hot water tanks that heats water as you need it. It does great except for a few things. One is that it doesn't work well if you are using it as well as two other major appliances such as the dishwasher, another tub, etc... You can run two and be okay, but not three. I kind of expect this is normal. I'd like to fix it if possible, but my real problem is that my tub/shower is upstairs. I can get it to give me all the heat I want, but I have to leave both the sinks running or I've only got a short amount of hot water. It's like it doesn't work right if you aren't pulling enough water. Does anyone know what causes this or how to fix it. It's not a big enough problem put a lot of money into it, but if there is a cheap easy fix, then I'd like to. I have to leave the water running in the sinks if I want to soak in the tub so that I don't have to climb out wet and turn them back on while showering off. Thanks for the help.

exactly correct
these things operate on so much flow – you aren’t pulling enough fast enough to keep the unit operating –
easy fix is to run the washing machine while you are showering
proper fix is to call the plumber and have the pressure tested if you can’t do this yourself – you need gauges to read it – the book that came with the unit tells how much it needs for proper working conditions – then a riser and/or a collection tank needs to be installed if the pressure can’t be regulated properly from the water source
we have an industrial on demand heater and we love it – used in restaurants for the big dish washers – our family uses so much water all day long, the consumption is enough for three homes – mom does nine loads of laundry every day – the guys shower twice a day – and all the water used in cleaning our home dishes, mopping floors, tub scrubbing, lots of water – so we don’t have these issues
Funny, I’m having issues with my "On Demand" Bosch water heater at my home right now too. There is a chance that your may not be large enough or it may not be adjusted properly. I have even seen actual remote "holding tanks" added on to these systems in larger homes with several baths. I would go to the manufacturer’s website and look for a manual. It will show you sizes and specifications. Then you can get an idea if your tank-less water heater is undersized for your home or not.
