   The venting is covered by UL and your local building code. If you were here in California you would need to go up through the roof or at least any adjacent structure with all horizontal sections sloped and the total run (horizontal) to rise (vertical) not to exceeding 50%. This particular unit only alows a 41′ flue with no elbows. The lenght get much shorter if you have elbows. See the installation guide lines pages 22 and 23 below. The unit also has the added problem of condensation that needs to be removed from the venting system. If you are installing these in an existing structure I can tell you from experience it is very hard to achieve all of these requirements in multi story buildings and can be difficult in single story buildings. Be sure their installation is inspected by your local building department because improper venting can result in death.

   its all about the Location of these units they may have to be placed somewhere else…. and run the water lines to that new location………..location location location

   For difficult areas to vent, there are also electric powered models.
   Still more economical to run than storage types.

   Note that tankless water heaters may be a good alternative for businesses as well as homes. Pubs, Restaurants, Hotels, Motels, and more, all use TWH’s for the very large cost savings, being able to expense or depreciate the up-front costs. So if you have an in-home business, or you just want to make points with your boss by cutting expenses, keep that in mind.
