I have a Cape Cod style house with no basement. Just two floors with bedrooms, kitchen, and bathroom. I had an A/C Unit installed 2 years ago and want to switch it to heat also. I currently have a summer/winter hookup that runs my hot water and heat and uses oil. I also want to switch over my hot water to an electric on demand hot water. Ultimately getting rid of oil totally.
Any suggestions, approximate prices, etc? Thanks
I had the central air unit installed 2 years ago just to clarify.

question about tankless hot water heater?

Some handy men just installed an electric hot water heater. It seemed to be working at first try-warm to hot water was coming out. Then we shut off the water and electricity to the house to do some work under a sink. They turned everything back on and left. I went to turn on the hot water only to find very low pressure and then no water. Then I turned on the cold and turned it off got better water pressure on the hot side, but still no hot water. One of the guys is coming back tomorrow, but I'm worried. I've had so many plumbing problems in this house. What could it be? Should I leave my hot side on in hopes that I finally get water running through there? Please help me and thanks in advance.
they didn't touch the temperature setting...could this be the reason for the lower flow? I'm getting a better flow, but the water isn't much warmer than the cold side

i had propane gas water heater i made a mistake i bought natural gas heater what shoul i do now

It is time to replace it; how difficult will it be to put the new water heater in the garage which is attached to the house; but on the other side from where the current water heater is. And, does anyone recommend waterless heaters that give instant hot water?

Home depot sells these 18" flexible stainless hoses with threaded, teflon sealed ends. The stainless steel is like a fine braid on the outside, i don't know what is inside. What are these hoses called and are they approved in Ma. for hot water heater connections.? My hot water heater is a tankless gas fired model. I installed them and they are working fine but neither my plumber nor the inspector know if they meet code.

tankless water heater…?

I have electric and not gas for my water heating. Can I have a tankless water heater installed so I can save on water and have hot water on demand? Approx. cost to have this installed? My house is 2600 sq ft (2 story).
Thanks
Since it takes approx 3-4min for the water to get hot, I would think it will save money on water too.

im in the market for a new heater. i have elctric now, but originally it was run by solar. now the solar ran out and it runs on electri(this is what my brother told me) so i need a new one. i can get permits to have gas put in( run a line to the house) but its a pain in the neck to go through all that. so what do you think of the tankless water heaters? do you save money?

The gas tankless unit only heats water when used. High installation cost but big tax credits and rebates. Hybrid electric is easy to install and has some tax incentives of its own. Nice benefit of the hybrid electric is that it cools and dehumidifies the air in the spring and summer (not such a good thing for the winter months). I have soft water. My water heater will be in the basement. The ground water temps are fairly cold in the winter months.

This is for a 2 bedroom apartment, 1 or 2 occupants at the most. I need to make some more space in the utility room to accomodate a dryer, and thought I'd replace the 40 gallon hot water tank with a tankless unit. It's about 3 feet away from the breaker box. It would supply hot water to the whole unit (kitchen sink, washing machine, bathroom).

What size of a tankless water heater would I need? Obviously, the higher gpm the heater provides, the more expensive it would be. This is a rental property, I don't live there. I guess the major demand would be in the shower/bathroom. I would tell the tenant not to run 2 hot water sources at the same time or else use warm water in them.

I don't need a complete analysis, but I just wanted to know do these type of water heaters really save you a lot of $. People have told me that they really spin the meter fast when they are running. I just want a side by side comparison. Let's just say that with the electric water heater that I have now 28 Gallons that I take a shower everyday for the same amount of time 15 Min & now I take a shower with a Electric Tankless water heater I take the same amount of time 15 min. Will I save money with the tankless heater?

Thanks for your reply In advance.

How water heater question?

A family is trying to determine what hot water heater to install in their house. They have narrowed it down to a tank style that holds 50 gallons of water constantly heated, and an instant hot water heater that heats water on demand. Which is more efficient and why?

I was looking into purchasing a tankless hot water heater, in your experience has it been worth the price of changing over?

I have a new trailer stationed out in the woods at a campground and am unsure how the water heater works. The water is hooked up and turned on via a handle outside the trailer. Then the water heater is then turned on via the circuit breaker in the trailer. So far I'm only getting cold water. I also have a propane tank outside - is this necessary to have turned on in order to heat the water? No clue...any ideas?
