Instant hot water heater boxes??

So they now make those instant hot water heaters, that are just the little box that only heats water when it is needed and I'm not sure how else to explain them. They are just those little boxes that you have instead of a huge water heater and they are supposed to be very energy efficient. So my question is does your home have to be natural gas or propane to have one installed or can you have a 100% electricity house to have one installed? Also, are they that huge of an energy saver and are they pretty good or have they had many problems? If my question is confusing I am so sorry. My husband says to get one we would have to have natural gas or propane ran to the house and I want to know if that is true. Thanks for any and all help.

I have a fairly new natural gas hot water heater but where I'll be using it at has a propane bulk tank. A friend of mine said he heard that the burner has to be changed but we aren't sure about that at all.

my husband and i are shopping around for a new water heater. many people say the tankless is the way to go, but the dude at lowe's said that it wouldn't work as well because of ground water temperature. is there anyone in this area that has one? and is water temperature a really big issue?

Gas tankless hot water heater-is it necessary?

to increase the gas pressure from 8" WC to 2PSI when converting from a gas hot water heater to gas tankless heater? Gas line is 1" entering the house, then 3/4" to each appliance. House is in Texas, 2 stories, 3200 SF, 3-1/2 baths (with a whirlpool tub), 2 furnaces, fireplace, dryer and tankless heater. If increased to 2PSI, gas pressure regulators will be needed at each appliance, as well as a 2PSI meter installed by the gas company. Sounds more expensive than necessary to this unknowing consumer. Comments are welcome.

As of right now I have a 40 gallon propane hot water heater without a timer. I was wondering how much money a tankless unit would save on the propane bill. How big are the units? My house has one bathroom, washing machine, and a kitchen faucet that would use the hot water. I live in Louisiana so the temp never really gets that cold. How big of a unit would I need and what kind of saving would I be looking at? What are the dimensions of the unit I would need?

Hot water automatically come on?

Hi every time I have wanted hot water I would have to turn the boiler hot water on for an hour for it to heat up.

Is there a way to not have to do this and have hot water on demand without having the boiler on 24/7 running up a big bill?

I have this system http://www.uk-plumbing.com/Horstmann-Programmer-Channelplus-XL-H27-7-Day-2-Channel-p-1262.html?source=googlebase

If you can not see link it is the "Horstmann Programmer Channelplus XL H27 7 Day 2 Channel"

Thanks!

I'd like to install a tankless, on-demand water heater (2 bathrooms, one upstairs, one downstairs, laundry and kitchen). I'd like comments on specific products, pros and cons, etc., and any advice. I'd like to hear from people who have actual experience, i.e., if you use one and/or have installed them. Thanks.

If I turn on the hot water in my tankless water heater, it only puts out hot water. That's good because that's what it's supposed to do. However when I turn on the cold water faucet, the hot water goes off and I only get cold water. I can't understand how turning on the cold water can affect the hot water my tankless hot water heater (gas) is producing. Any info would be great!
How can I fix it?

I am thinking of replacing my hot water tank with a Stiebel Eltron Tempra tankless electric water heater. I have been told that electric tankless doesn't work very well. Does anybody out there have one, and do you like it?

Can anyone give me a link or PDF document that explains how electric tankless water heaters work...I need diagrams and explanations of the components etc???

A Water Heater Energy Question?

I need to find ways to reduce my extremely high electric bill. I'm considering installing a timer on our water heater or installing one of those "Hot Water on demand" systems. But do either of these devices really save any bucks?

From what I understand a Rinnai tankless water heater needs a stainless steel vent. Why can it not use the vent from my old water heater?

Hot water tank vs. Instant water heater?

I am thinking of installing an instant hot water heater (electric) for our whole house (1600sq. ft.).
In your experience, is it worth it? Does it save money? Any downfalls?

My father in law has a propane tankless water heater he wants to give me. My home is natural gas. I'm pretty sure that you cant, but I was wondering if I could install this in my home. If I cant, does anyone know the difference between the two types of gas?

I have a gas tankless hot water heater. the pilot frequently shut off. The gas valve control is controlled by water flow. When there is hot water runs, the water creates a pressure discrepancy at two sides of valve so the gas is on. I do not like this kind design because it is not reliable. about every three years the value needs replaced. It has been replaced twice by me and a plumber. I would like to replace it with a new tankless gas hot water heater with electrical gas lighting. Any suggestion.

The red light is flashing on the hot water indicator (D.H.W Demand Indicator) for my boiler which is a Worcester 24 cdi. The Hot water and the central heating are both not working. Any advice of what checks i could make before calling out for a plumber ?

Thanks
